Gloria Jacqueline Stinespring Comer
September 1, 1934 - January 21, 2026
Gloria "Jackie" Comer of Waynesboro was called home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
She was born September 1, 1934, in Waynesboro, VA, a daughter of the late Forrest & Dora Stinespring, the fourth child of nine children.
She was a wonderful homemaker, a charter member of the Waynesboro Church of the Nazarene, a current member of Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, and served in various capacities over the years. She was an avid reader, especially her Bible, and read it daily and loved to sing praise hymns. She so enjoyed spending time with her family from birthday celebrations, holiday gatherings, and backyard cookouts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Glen "Tojo" Comer, with whom she was married for 53 years; daughter, Vickie Harlow; son, Donnie Comer; as well as her brothers, Herbert, Conley, and Douglas Stinespring; and her sisters, Helen Taylor and Yvonne Weatherholtz; her special brother-in-law, Michael Weatherholtz and special sister-in-law, Dorothy Stinespring.
Surviving are her children, Deborah Beaver (Rodger), Sharon Kaye, and Angela Humphries (Todd); as well as son-in-law, Walter Harlow; and daughter-in-law, Dorsey Comer; grandchildren, Amanda Harris (Beryl), Jeremy Vess (Jennifer), Jonathan Fies, Ryan Beaver (Mandy), Justin Beaver (Angelo), Katie Comer (fiancé Lance), Heather Comer, James Comer, Brad Harlow (Carrie), Bobby Harlow (Heather), Brent Harlow (Erin), Sarah Howell (Timmy), Emily Bennett (Colter) and Ashley Humphries; great-grandchildren, Nolan Vess (Kacey), McKenna (fiancé Ayden), Max, and Olivia Vess, Jacob and Malachi Beaver, Charlotte, Brent, Josiah, Ella Comer, Lincoln, Tucker, Madelyn, Addye, Ryan, Lily and Morgan Harlow, Leah, Easton and Savannah Howell and Macyn Bennett; brother, Lurdy Stinespring; sisters-Evelyn Satterwhite and Juanita Campbell; sisters-in-law, Ruth Stinespring, June Stinespring; special niece, Rebecca Pierce; and dear family friends, Bobbie Gardner, Cordelia Underwood and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held at McDow Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28th, and at other times at the home of her daughter, Debbie Beaver. The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 29th, at 12 p.m. at Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene in Stuarts Draft, conducted by Rev. Charles Perkins, with burial following at Augusta Memorial Park in Fishersville.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Shenandoah Nursing Home for all the love, care, and support shown to our mom and our family during her time residing there.
