Helen Pauline Comer passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on April 24, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Albert and Beatrice Roddy. Helen lived a life filled with love, joy, and unwavering dedication to her family.
More than a talented hairdresser, Helen was the heart of her family, faithfully caring for those entrusted to her. Her wonderful cooking and warm sense of humor brought comfort and light, even in life's quieter or more difficult moments. She found joy in simple, God-given blessings-cultivating her yard, caring for her home, and taking pride in the work of her hands. For Helen, the sweetest rest was found not in distant travels, but in the peace of home, surrounded by those she loved, living a life marked by gratitude and grace.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Maddox; her sister, Norma Middleton; and her granddaughter, Amy Bohanan.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail (John) Kennedy; her son, George Maddox; her sisters, Joyce Buckner and Patsy Gantt; her grandchildren, Chad Cain, Jeffrey Kato, and Scotty Maddox; her great-grandchildren, Patience Bohanan and Noble Bohanan; her great-great-grandchild, Blair Bohanan; her niece, Jennifer Reasoner; her nephew, David Gantt; and a host of other extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Sam Clark Chapel with David Gantt officiating. Helen will be laid to rest following the service at Crest Lawn Memorial Park.
Helen's warm spirit and loving nature will always be remembered, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
