Early the morning of June 17, Gloria Dallinga, 89, was greeted in heaven by a throng of waving, smiling people including her husband Harold (Dal) and daughter Leigh. She led a full and blessed life, teaching 1st grade at Copley Schools, then going on to head up the Title I program for reading & math at Akron Public Schools, where she received national recognition. An avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, retirement did not slow her down - she was President of the Summit County chapter of the Ohio State Alumni Association for many years and attended football and women's basketball games into her 80's. She enjoyed helping with Sunday school classes at Parkside Church in Aurora and taking Zoomba, Line Dancing, and other Silver Sneakers classes at the Solon Senior Center until recently. She is survived by son Scott, his wife Laura, her daughter Cyndy, and Grandchildren Lucas, Kimber, Max and Fran. She will be missed, but not forgotten, until we see her again at the big meet-up in heaven!
A celebration of life open house will be held on Thursday July 6 from 4pm to 7pm in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park at the Octagon Shelter, 801 Truxell Rd, Peninsula, OH 44264.

I have fond memories of Gloria as she was a dear and faithful friend. I met her at Parkside Church followed by lunches together at her home and mine. Even though I miss her, I am happy she is with her Lord and Savior.

I send my condolences to Gloria´s son, Scott, and wife, Laura. Also to daughter, Candy and grandchildren. She was a good friend and prayer partner to me for many years at Parkside Church. I will miss her very much in the days ahead.
