Gloria Doherty Obituary Gloria J Doherty (Mercier) age 84, of Barrington, NH, formerly a long-time resident of Stoneham, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 9, 2025.
Gloria was born on September 26, 1941, in Cambridge, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Charles J. Mercier and Ethel E. (Edgerly) Mercier.
Gloria was the beloved wife of the late Daniel J. Doherty, Jr., devoted mother of the late Deborah Strong & her husband David Strong of Memimac, MA. Dana Doherty of Haverhill, Diane Mondello of Haverhill, Donna Carriker & her late husband Thomas of Plainfield, MA, and Daniel J. Doherty ll of Barington, NH.
Loving "Nanny" of the late Brianna, Jennifer & husband Brandon, Amanda & husband Yuuki, David & wife Jennifer, Elizabeth & husband Christopher, Anthony & fiancé Holly, Andrew & wife Amie, Adam & wife Erin, Tawnya, Shawn & fiancé Ashley, Aislinn, Daniel, Erinn, Sean, and great-grandchildren Stephan, Mason, Jamie, Lillien, Emmalee, Henry, Hiro, Julia, Brandon, Brynn, Rylee, Alina and Avery.
Dear sister of Joseph, Thomas and Frances, she is pre-deceased by her siblings Marie, Charles (Abie), Edward, Arthur, Rita, Betty and Joan.
She was the #1 Party Planner. She was always in the planning and preparation stages for an annual ski weekend at King Pine for 80+ family and friends, a lobster bake on the 4th of July in Marshfield, a Halloween bash at the Marconi Club in Stoneham, where there was a lot of competition for the best costume, and a New Year's Eve party in the basement of our home in Stoneham which included chinese food from Aku Aku in Cambridge.
She also enjoyed their annual motorcycle trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Lake George and Killington VT.
She loved planning her route for her Saturday summer yard sale excursions. Dad would be waiting for our return to see all the bargains. If a small appliance broke there was no need to purchase another one, mom always had 3 or 4 to choose from. When she wasn't yard saleing she was soaking up the sun at Hummarock Beach or Brant Rock with family and friends.
She had a special group of life long friends, that would meet once a week, alternating houses, to play poker.
Gloria is further survived by a large extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
