Gloria Lagnese, 93, passed away peacefully at Bridgeport Hospital Sunday evening February 2 with her family at her side.

She was born June 26th 1931 in Bronx NY to Rose and Savario Marcantonio.

She married Sam Lagnese September 1, 1951 which was followed by a trip to Canada. She lived in NYC until 1959 when she moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut where she lived for a year before buying her first home on Arbor Drive in Fairfield. As her family grew she moved to a larger home at 60 Steep Hill Road in Southport where she happily remained.

She had a variety of jobs including selling Stanley Home products and the Singer Sewing Center where she applied her expertise in sewing. She eventually shifted to a career in Real Estate where she again was also successful. She was named Realtor of the Year in 1984 by the Fairfield Board of Realtors. She stayed a Realtor until her retirement.

She loved being a mother and grandmother and being with her family. Her passion for knitting and crocheting continued to the end as she even had her crocheting bag with her in the hospital. She was always happy to donate hats, scarves, and blankets that she made to the hospitals for cancer patients and the needy. Her mother Rose, had taught her to always help people whenever possible. She volunteered at schools and for Cub, Girl, and Boy Scouts in many capacities. She loved being on the deck in her backyard that her husband Sam made for her. She loved relaxing there while watching birds and wildlife from the deck.

She was predeceased by her husband Sam, sons Paul and Gregory, brothers Sonny (Sevario), Joseph, sister Marie, in laws Don and Connie Masterpaul, Frank Goss, and Joe Hunce. She is survived by her daughter Glorianne, son John and his wife Patty, grandchildren Anne Marie, Jay and Peter, a sister, Anna and sister-in-law, Terry and many nieces and nephews.
