Gloria Ella (Weckler) Malvitz, 83, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away in her sleep at home in the early morning of Saturday, November 1, 2025.
She was born August 12, 1942 in the Town of Sturgeon Bay to Gustave "Gus" H. Weckler and Josephine (Drexler) Weckler. Gloria attended Evergreen School and then Sevastopol High School.
She was united in marriage to Melvin Dale Malvitz in Michigan on October 4, 1962. They were blessed with two sons: Keith and George. Gloria initially worked for Milwaukee Shoe Co. in Sturgeon Bay before raising her sons at home.
Family was everything to Gloria. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and the time spent with them. And you can't forget her "third child" (her beloved dog), Shotzy, who kept Gloria and Melvin company the past 13 years. Gloria enjoyed visiting with relatives and friends and had weekly luncheons for many years with three of her cousins, Ellamae Sternard (deceased), Elaine Cumber, and Darlene Lenius. She shot pool with other ladies at Butch's Bar in Sturgeon Bay. Gloria liked listening to country music and watching her daily soap operas on TV. She was also an avid reader. Over the years, Gloria and Melvin attended the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church where other generations of their family also attended. She and Melvin recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her husband, Melvin; sons, Keith Malvitz of New Orleans, LA and George (Crystal) Malvitz of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Davin (Abigail) Malvitz of Sturgeon Bay, Ashton (Danny) Elias of Coral Springs, FL, Matthew Malvitz, Amanda Malvitz, Jordon Flood Zelnik, and Jayden Kadunc, all of Sturgeon Bay; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Callen Malvitz, Caleb Malvitz Hoffman, Nova Elias, and Logan and Layla Malvitz; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Weckler of Sturgeon Bay and Viola Malvitz of Milwaukee; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, George and Amanda (Corbisier) Malvitz; siblings, Duane (Diane) Weckler, Grant Weckler, and infant siblings, Dorla Dean, Sharon, and Hans Weckler; siblings-in-law; and other relatives.
Gloria's life will be honored with a funeral service held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 with Rev. Reeder Herrick officiating. Procession to Bayside Cemetery in the Town of Sevastopol to follow, where Gloria will be laid to rest.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Huehns Funeral Home on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m.

God looked around his garden,
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you,
And lifted you to rest;
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain;
He knew you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And hills were hard to climb
So he closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered, "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone,
For a part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
