Gloria Janet Meeden

Gloria Janet Meeden was born May 18, 1939, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Melvin and Gladys Harl. She was affectionately known to all of her friends as “Jan”. She graduated from Rock Island High School, Rock Island, Illinois in 1957 and was employed at Bituminous Insurance Company, prior to her marriage to Paul Meeden in 1960.

After raising a son and a daughter, she enrolled at the American Institute of Commerce in Bettendorf, Iowa, where she completed a two-year study in business.

In 1979, Jan joined DDH Management in Moline, Illinois, as an Administrative Assistant. The firm managed several government subsidized apartment dwellings for families and the elderly. During this time, she was active in church work and in leadership positions with the local Junior Women’s Club. Jan retired in 1993 and moved with her husband to Sun City, Arizona in 2005, where the couple were active in their church and enjoyed travelling.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Donna Lou Doeckel. Survivors include son Glenn T. Meeden (Nancy), Sun City, Arizona; daughter Ramona K. Hodgerson (Dave), Sun City, Arizona; and two stepchildren; Brenda K. Black (Richard), Mt. Vernon, Illinois; and Terry P. Swift (Theresa), Georgetown, Indiana. Also included are 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two nephews, and a niece.

A celebration of life for Mrs. Meeden will be held on November 21st, 10:30 AM, at Bellevue Heights Church, 9440 W. Hutton Dr., Sun City, AZ 85351
