Gloria Petenko Obituary
Edison - Gloria Petenko (nee: Rusin) , 87, departed this life on February 15, 2021 at Roosevelt Hospice Care Center, Edison, NJ. She was born August 28, 1933 in Keasby, NJ and resided in Metuchen and Edison prior to moving to her daughter's home in the Menlo Park Terrace section of Metuchen, NJ.
In addition to being a graduate of Perth Amboy H.S. Class of 1951, she was a majorette for the Perth Amboy Lyons club. She was also head of the reunion committee for her high school class. Gloria first worked for Raritan Arsenal, then as a buyer at Middlesex County College. She was an active member at the Clara Barton Seniors Club and their social club, Edison AARP #3446.
Gloria loved to travel the world, play her slots at the Casinos and go on bus trips. She enjoyed doing puzzles and playing solitaire. She was a fun-loving and generous mother and grandmother. She adored her time playing with her great granddaughter and her dog Nitro. She was passionate about her family, friends, and loved by all.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul and Joseph Rusin; sister Madeline Borghaus; and nephew Richard Rusin.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Joseph Petenko; daughter, Wendy and husband Bill; Son, Joseph and wife Valerie; grandchildren, Christopher and Jaclyn, Erin and Michael; great granddaughter Rylee; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gloria's name to either JFK Medical Center Foundation-Haven Hospice, or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Gloria was a lovely friend and hard-working classmate to our Perth Amboy Class of 1951. She was so kind and we remained friends since our high school days. We will miss her and her cheerfulness. Joe and family, we are sorry for your loss.
