Gloria Louise Pranaitis, age 87 of Breese, IL, died Friday, August 15, 2025, at HSHS Saint Elizabeth Hospital in O Fallon, IL. She was born on Saturday, November 13, 1937, in Collinsville, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Ann (nee Pilkus) Roe. On Saturday, September 24, 1955, she married Alexander T. Pranaitis at Collinsville, Illinois, who passed away on Friday, April 12, 1985. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. She was a Volunteer at the Louis Latzer Memorial Library, History Room. Gloria was born and raised in Collinsville and graduated from Collinsville High School in 1955. She always considered herself a "Kahok"'. After her marriage, she lived in Collinsville and then moved to St. Jacob in 1972. She raised her family and enjoyed many camping trips together. She and her husband loved to fish. She was a 1984 graduate of Alvaretia's College of Cosmetology and had her own shop in her home for several years. In 1987, following her husband's death, she moved to Highland, IL. She worked for Anderson Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Faith Countryside Homes, and for Basler Electric for 5 years, retiring in 1997. In 2002, she moved to Pierron, IL and then moved to Breese, IL in 2012. After her retirement, she worked on genealogy, locating Madison County Country Schools and indexing obituaries from newspapers. She also helped with bazaars and crafts for St. James Catholic Church in St. Jacob and volunteered at school and church, as well as the Latzer Library in the Historical room. She enjoyed crocheting, counted cross-stitching, and making gingerbread houses. Survivors include: Daughter - Eva A. (David) Missey, Trenton, IL Son - Alexander T. Roe Mother - Ann Roe nee Pilkus Sister - Dena A. Owens Sister - Linda S. Newcomb Half Brother - Louis M. Fellhauer Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Father Jim Nall, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
