Monson- Gloria M. (Mertz) Robbins, 77 passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024 unexpectedly. Gloria was born in Ludlow, Ma on November 8, 1946 to the late Jack F. and Olive V. (Illig) Mertz. She was a graduate of Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham, Ma. Gloria was devoted to her loving husband and family. She was always supportive of her family and friends.
Gloria was a kind and gentle person taking care of her family, friends and especially her animals. She loved her ducks, geese, rabbits and goats to name a few. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and usually beating them for a dollar. She also enjoyed going to bingo with her friends. Gloria loved to hike with her family at the Quabbin Reservoir and all over New England as well as Yellowstone National Park. Gloria was always supporting her grandchildren at sporting events and other extracurriculars. In her younger days she loved to dance and was invited to dance ballet in Canada. Gloria also enjoyed crocheting, often making outfits for her loved ones. Gloria worked part-time over the years as a dance teacher, Sunshine Arts Studio, Springfield Moulders, seasonally at Baxter’s Echo Hill Orchard, Marketplace, Forbes Garden Mart, and McDonalds. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Gloria leaves her loving husband of 56 years, Peter M. Robbins and their children; Roberta J. Lemoine and husband Alan of Stafford Springs, CT, Michael J. Robbins and wife Melody of Wales, MA, Rebecca J. Mitchell and husband David of Monson MA; eight grandchildren who she adored, McKenna Burgos, Jeremie Robbins, Katrina Robbins, Taylor Mitchell, Megan Mitchell, Luke Mitchell, Seth Mitchell, Caitlin Lemoine, and two great grandchildren, Joell and Malennia Burgos; her niece, Tammy Clarke and her partner Dawn Asselin and nephew Tommy Clarke. Gloria was predeceased by her parents and sister, Roberta Clarke.
Immediate services are private. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Research.
