Gloria Sanchez Obituary
Gloria Sanchez, a loved and proud resident of Belen, NM, passed away on December 26, 2025. Gloria will be dearly missed by family, friends and loved ones. She will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Sonny, at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens on January 14, 2026 at 10:30am.
Gloria is preceded in death by her loving husband, Fernandez "Sonny" Garley Sanchez; parents, Jose L. And Onesima Padilla Salaz; paternal grandparents, Salvador and Carlota Salaz and maternal grandparents, Juan and Loganda Padilla. Gloria is survived by children Raymond Sanchez and Renee Sanchez Brookbank; grandchildren, Michael, Francesca, Lindsey, Spencer, Sydney and 5 great grandchildren and siblings, Joe, Frances, Charlotte and Catherine Salaz. Gloria was a devoted member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She volunteered with the City of Belen for over 30 years and one of her proudest accomplishments, alongside of her husband, was the founding of the Belen 9/11 Memorial Park. Gloria proudly called herself a farmer's daughter, she loved entertaining, cooking, dancing, country music and was known for her wonderful sense of humor and passion for poetry. In her later years, Gloria continued her college education and won awards for her poetry.
