Gloria Williams Obituary

Life Story

On July 8, 1948, Gloria Jean Williams was born, a life that would go on to touch many hearts. On the evening of Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Gloria peacefully departed this life at her home, surrounded by the comfort of family and love.

Gloria spent her early childhood and school years in Middletown, Delaware. She was a proud graduate of Wilmington High School, Class of 1966. Following graduation, she began her professional career at Smalls Printing Associates in Wilmington. She later gained employment with the University of Delaware in the printing department, where she faithfully worked and excelled for many years until retirement.

Much of Gloria’s childhood was spent living with her beloved maternal grandparents, John and Anna Williams, who played a significant role in shaping her life. She later lived for a time in Baltimore, Maryland, before returning home. During that season, she attended the United Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic under the leadership of Bishop James B. Thornton, a ministry she remained connected to throughout the years.

Gloria had a genuine and generous heart, always willing to help others in any way she could—whether by taking someone to an appointment, going shopping together, or simply spending time in good company. She especially enjoyed traveling, sharing meals, and laughing with friends; moments that brought her immense joy.

She was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Gloria was a devoted member of Greater Bible Way Temple in Philadelphia under the leadership of Elder Carroll W. Gibbs for many years, until her health began to decline. She later attended the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Penns Grove, New Jersey, alongside her mother, where Bishop Edward Petroski serves as pastor.

Above all, Gloria had a deep and abiding love for her family. She devoted countless hours to caring for her grandchildren, faithfully picking them up from school and transporting them to and from their after-school activities. Her presence was steady, her dedication unwavering, and her love was a true blessing to all who knew her. Gloria will be remembered for her kindness, faith, and the quiet but powerful way she showed love.

Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Luther Walker, Sr. (Alice), stepfather, Oscar Brown, Sr; her sisters, Anna Brown, Dionne Walker and Deborah Walker; and her brothers, Oscar Brown, Jr., Arthur Brown and Donald Walker, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Marsha Williams, and faithful caretaker; her devoted son, Darnell Williams (Jwanda); her beloved mother, Anna Brown; her treasured sisters, Joyce Brown, Yvette Kitchen (Thomas), Lois Walker, and Patricia Walker; her dear brothers, Carmen Brown (Angel), Calvin Brown (Renee), and Luther Walker, III (Vienna); her cherished grandchildren, John David Williams, Sierra Fraizer, David Williams, Marques Williams, Tyrone Williams, and Joshua Williams; her precious great-grandchildren, Kamari Frazier-Pullen, Michael Molina, Ja’Sai Williams, Rya’ Faye Williams, Rylan Williams, Admire Williams, and Khali Keel; her close and dedicated friend, Doris Drayton; her beloved friends, Ruth Frazier and Pearl Ponzo, affectionally known as the Golden Girls; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
