Age 67 of Wilmington, DE
Passed away on March 3, 2026. He was born on February 7, 1959, in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late John and Mary Jankowski. Robert was a proud lifelong resident of Wilmington.
A graduate of Wilmington High School, Robert showcased his athletic prowess as an exceptional basketball player. His passion for sports extended beyond the court; he was a devoted fan of all Philadelphia teams, cherishing the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phillies above all. Robert enjoyed spending his leisure time at Delaware Park, relishing the excitement of live horse racing and the atmosphere of the casino.
Known as the ultimate jokester, he never took life too seriously. Robert encouraged others to find joy in everyday moments. His love for animals was evident, particularly in his affection for his beloved cat, Roscoe, and dog, Bailey.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister and her husband, Barbara and Gus Coccia.
Robert is survived by his two daughters, Gabrielle Jankowski and Robyn McGonigle; his brother, John Jankowski (Kelley); his sister, Marie Walther; and many loving nieces and nephews. He took great pride in his family's accomplishments, delighting in every milestone reached.
Funeral services will be held on April 1, 2026, at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805 at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Robert's life and share their fond memories of him from 10:00 am -11:00 am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the SPCA of Delaware, honoring Robert's love for animals.
