Gordon R. Andersen, age 87, of
Alta, Iowa died July 8, 2025 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church in rural Meriden, Iowa. To view a livestream of the service provided by the church, use the following link: https://oakdalechurch.com/live-stream. Burial will be in the Elk Township Cemetery in
Alta, Iowa. Visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 2025 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in ALTA. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta is in charge of the arrangements.
Gordon Ray Andersen was born February 16, 1938 to J. Lester and Minnie (Grienke) Andersen on a farm west of
Alta, Iowa. He began grade school at Fairview School, then moved to Highview School. Following Gordon's high school graduation in 1956, he served in the Iowa National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1961. Gordon studied Agriculture at Iowa State University, graduating in 1961.
On August 7, 1971, Gordon was united in marriage to Patricia K. Snyder at Center Grove Evangelical Free Church. To this union, three children were adopted: Sandra, Donald, and Carol.
Farming was Gordon's passion. In his free time, Gordon loved fishing. You could find him watching baseball. During the winter months, Gordon and Patricia enjoyed the Arizona sunshine and getting together with their "McDonald's gang". Gordon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Alta, Iowa; children: Sandy Mohn of Aurelia, Iowa; Don (Jen) Andersen of Lindstrom, Minnesota; Carol Andersen of Early, Iowa; brother: Max (Linda) Andersen of Vermillion, South Dakota; grandchildren: Derek (Meaghan) Olsen of Canton, South Dakota; Jeff (Caleigh) Olsen of Aurelia, Iowa; Matt (Jules) Berg of Lynden, Washington; Steven (Casey) Berg of Moville, Iowa; Jake Berg of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Sean Berg of Aurelia, Iowa; Kelsey (Ethan) Aho of Sebeka, Minnesota; Kyle Andersen of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Jon Andersen of Cherokee, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Kaysha Brown of
Alta, Iowa; Gabe Olsen of Aurelia, Iowa; Amarie Olsen of Aurelia, Iowa; Logan Berg of Moville, Iowa; Milo Berg of Lynden, Washington; Xavier Berg of Moville, Iowa; Ari Staricha of Sebeka, Minnesota; great-great grandson: Amari Fussell of
Alta, Iowa; niece: Holly (Rick) Bruning; nephews: Dennis (Patsy) Andersen; Troy Peterson; Ryan Peterson; extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: J. Lester and Minnie Andersen; sister: Janene Peterson; and parents-in-law: Raymond and Bernice Snyder.
