Gordon Howard Blue of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
He was born on Apr. 2, 1934 to his parents, Howard and Eva Blue in Olean, N.Y. He grew up there with his two younger sisters, Janice and Babs. He passed away at the age of 90 in his home in Louisville, Ky. where he spent the last 60 years residing with his wife, Bette and his children, Michele and Tracy. He was diagnosed with Leukemia during the summer of 2019. He was able to fight and win the battle for 3 years when he went into remission at 88 years old. Going back to his younger years, He graduated from University of Buffalo majoring in Chemistry. He landed a job in Louisville, Ky. as a Chemical Engineer at General Electric. Here he also spent a few years in Army Reserves. He met his future wife, Bette Tichenor, and they married on June 23, 1962. They had 2 children, Michele and Tracy. Gordon and Bette have been members of the Hurstbourne Christian Church for the past 6 years. Gordon has been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 39 years. Over the years he has been a strong mentor for many people in his life. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Eva Blue; his sister, Janice Boddecker, and his great grandson, Kaeson.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Bette Blue, to whom he was married to for 62 years. He is survived by his sister, Babs Lyons; and by his children, Michele and Tracy; his grandchildren, Katie, Makayla, Ryan, Kareena, Brenden, and Mason; and his great grandson Memphis.
Visitation will be 2pm to 4pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funeral and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Gordon's life will be there at 4pm.
