Gordon David "Ike" Clark, 89, passed away on July 25, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida. Born on March 5, 1936, in Middlefield, Ohio, Gordon lived a life defined by dedication to his work, his community, and his family.

Gordon spent the first 67 years of his life in Middlefield, Ohio, where he built a reputation as a man who never shied away from a challenge. From his early days working in his father's creamery to owning and operating three businesses-an excavation company, a construction firm, and a crane service-he was known for taking on the kinds of jobs others walked away from. His determination and ingenuity earned him respect throughout the region.

At just 21 years old, Gordon was elected Superintendent of the Village of Middlefield-a testament to the trust and confidence his community placed in him. He also served with distinction for 17 years as a captain and assistant chief of the Middlefield Volunteer Fire Department, further demonstrating his commitment to public service.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Gordon was deeply involved in his faith. A devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Middlefield, he served as trustee and chairman for over two decades. His contributions extended beyond church walls; when an abandoned property needed transformation into what would become the Middlefield Ministry Campus, Gordon borrowed a bulldozer and got to work-just one example of how he combined faith with action.

In 2003, Gordon and his beloved wife Carole began spending winters in Bradenton, Florida. Even as snowbirds, they remained active participants in their Ohio church's board meetings and activities. While in Florida, they attended Manatee Methodist Church in Bradenton.

When he wasn't behind the controls of an excavator, Gordon enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing cards with friends, and traveling. One of Gordon's most memorable trips was to his cousin's ranch in Texas.

Gordon is survived by Carole Clark, his loving wife of 69 years; their children Douglas (Delores) Clark and Debra (Nancy) Clark; grandchildren Casey (Rebecca) Clark and Serena (Royal) Barton; and great-granddaughter Madison Clark. He will be forever cherished by those who knew him.

May Gordon's memory bring comfort to all who were touched by his strength, generosity, and unwavering spirit.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
