Gordon James Gallandt, affectionately known as Gordy by his loved ones, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, in Midland, Michigan. Born on December 21, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan, Gordy lived a life marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his craft, and his community.
Gordy's journey began with the values of hard work and creativity. His passion for building and design led him to pursue and proudly earn a degree as a Masonry Worker. Throughout his career, Gordy's skilled hands crafted more than just fireplaces and foundations; he built a legacy of artistry and integrity that stands as a testament to his talent.
On June 29, 2008, Gordy married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Eddy, in a union that was filled with love and companionship until she predeceased him on January 27, 2022. Their love was a beacon of strength and devotion that inspired all who knew them.
Gordy's life was enriched by his loving children: Jordan Gallandt, Morgan (Joel Parker) Capp-Gallandt, Rachel (Scott) Cross, Darryl (Ariel Ervin) Christian, and Hunter Christian, a grandson he proudly raised. He beamed with pride at each of their accomplishments and was the biggest fan at their activities, never missing a chance to cheer them on. His grandchildren-Abigail, Emily, Madison, Rikki, Aubrey, Braaron, Nolan, Ella, Braxton, Alex, and Amora-all were the joy of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Gordy was a beloved brother to Cindy (Bill) Livesay, Kathy (Dan) Houts, and Elaine Sammons. He was predeceased by his parents, his cherished wife Joyce, his son Danny Christian, his daughter Terri Katzer, his brother Martin Gallandt, and his brother-in-law Floyd Sammons. Each family member held a special place in his heart, and he left behind a legacy of love and unity that will continue to thrive in their memories.
Gordy's life was one of generosity, love, and selflessness. These words not only describe him but also encapsulate the essence of his impact on the world. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a man who gave freely of himself to ensure the happiness and well-being of those, he held dear.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025. Place and time with be announced later. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home.
