In Loving Memory of
Gordon Hal Holmstead
(October 6, 1950- April 13, 2025)
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we share the passing of Gordon Hal Holmstead, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose presence brought warmth, wisdom, and joy to those fortunate enough to know him. He passed away on April 13th at the age of 74.
Born in Lehi, Utah, Gordon was a man of unwavering integrity and enthusiasm. From a young age, he distinguished himself as an Eagle Scout and a dedicated athlete, lettering in football, wrestling, and golf while attending American Fork High School. His competitive spirit and discipline shaped his approach to both his personal and professional life.
A lifelong devotee of excellence, Gordon proudly owned The Enterprise, Ltd. clothing stores in Orem and Salt Lake City, Utah-establishments widely recognized in the 1970s and 1980s as among the finest in the state. His keen eye for style and quality led him to later flourish as the national sales manager and co-designer at Ferrell Reed, Ltd., where he made a lasting impact in the men's clothing industry.
Beyond his career, Gordon embraced life with a passion for travel, music, and literature. As a sports car enthusiast, he loved long-distance road trips and had a deep appreciation for Europe's beauty and cultures, with Paris and Prague standing out as his most cherished destinations. Whether speeding down the open road, exploring a new city, listening to a favorite song, or getting lost in a good book, he found joy in life's many wonders.
More than his accomplishments, however, Gordon will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family. Married to his wife Claudia Hall in the Salt Lake LDS temple, he built a life rooted in faith, commitment, and deep familial bonds. Together they raised five children: Christa (Greg) Ringer, Dax (Krystal) Holmstead, Cecily (Aaron) Miller, Carras (Kathryn) Holmstead, and Bo (Cindy) Holmstead.
Gordon is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Hal Evans Holmstead and Kathryn Smith Holmstead.
He is survived by his loving wife, Claudia, their aforementioned children, 17 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild as well as siblings Jan (Randy) Robinson, Lori (Doug) Berry, Kurt (Karen) Holmstead, and Jay (Sondra) Holmstead, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will continue to honor his memory.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Beehive Homes Provo and iCare Hospice for the compassionate care they gave Gordon in his final days.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Saturday, May 17th at 1:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Park 6th Wardhouse, 195 West 300 South
Orem, UT, where family and friends are invited to honor his memory and share stories of the remarkable man he was. Although Gordon is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His kindness, wisdom, and laughter will be deeply missed, but the memories shared will remain forever. As we come together to celebrate his life, may we find comfort in the stories, love, and legacy he leaves behind.
