Gordon Jackson Obituary

Published by Legacy from Sep. 29 to Oct. 1, 2025.
Lifelong Medfield resident Gordon Thomas Jackson Jr. passed away September 10 at the age of 70. He was born at Newton-Wellesley hospital and was pre-deceased by his parents, Gordon Sr. and Lucy Jackson. He is survived by his sister Kathy Jackson, her husband Dana and nephew Dana of Derry NH, niece Kelley of Amesbury MA and two great nephews Eli, Oliver and one great niece, Evie.
Gordon was president of the class of 1973 at Medfield High School. Termed the "loose class" by Principal Dr. Russell H. Johnston. "This is the best class I ever graduated with" were Gordons opening remarks at the graduation ceremony, drawing a combination of applause and laughter from relatives and friends of the graduating seniors.
He served in the United Sates Air Force from 1973-1980 and was stationed at Hanscom Air Force Base (AFB), MA, Pease AFB, NH and Ramstein Air Base, Germany. It was while he was stationed in Germany that Gordon took advantage of the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe, which included a visit to Dublin Ireland, home of his grandparents.
While in the service he also began to pursue a college degree and graduated from Worcester State College (now Worcester State University) with a bachelor's of science degree.
Gordon was a kind and generous soul. Friend to all - always engaging and willing to converse with anyone about a myriad of topics. He greatly appreciated the kindness of strangers and offered the same to all he encountered. He was a thoughtful, funny and witty man. He loved music and was a great - creative - dancer.
He held all living things sacred, had many pets throughout his life - loved nature, walking thorough Rocky Woods Reservation and had a passion for gardening. He had a special talent for growing spectacular roses.
As an ex- air force man, he had a keen eye for all things that flew, as well as a love for cars and the automotive world, which he shared with his father.
Gordon was a wonderful man who spread kindness and friendship wherever he went.
He was a unique manifestation of the human spirit - and he will be missed by many.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gordons life at the Zullo Gallery, 456A Main Street, Medfield MA, Sunday November 16 at 1:30PM
