Gordon Keith Larson, born on December 4, 1938, in Madison, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Gordon was the son of the late Alfred and Austa Larson and from an early age, his warm personality, positive spirit and athleticism stood out. Known for his faith, charm, quick wit, and unwavering optimism, Gordon made a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Gordon attended Madison, MN, High School, and Gustavus Aldophus College. Gordon also served 7 years in the Army Reserves, for which he was very proud. Gordon dedicated his career to teaching mathematics and coaching swimming for 42 years at Clarenceville Public Schools. Gordon also founded the AAU (now USS) Clarenceville Cohoes Swim Club, which is a year-round swim club dedicated to providing the swimming fundamentals to young athletes as well as dedicated training for elite athletes. Gordon managed a private summer swim club located in downtown Farmington, MI, called Farmington Glen Aquatic Club, for 29 years. The club created a vibrant community centered on community, fun and connection. He is survived by his loving children, Wendy Juback, Michael Larson, Paul (Aziza) Larson and Gretchen (Steve) Kline; stepchildren, Dino Lucido and Denise Lucido; adored grandchildren, Keli (Anthony) Villneff, Andrew (Tina) Juback, Samantha (Alex) VanWoerkom, Matthew Larson, Bradley Larson, Michaela Larson, Mariam Ahmad, Eaman Ahmad, Cameron Kline, Erin Kline, Ethan King, and Alia King; great-grandchildren, Bristol Villneff, Garrett Villneff, Evelyn Villneff, Lewis Juback, Emma Jo Juback, and Harvey VanWoerkom; dear siblings, Stan (Marlene) Larson and Barbara (Jim) Swenson; goddaughter; nieces; nephews; and so many who adored him. Gordon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene; and his sister, Donna Olson. A visitation will take place on Monday, August 18, from 2 - 8 pm. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 19, at 11 am, both at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home. Donations may be directed to Angela Hospice to further honor Gordon's life and legacy. Gordon's legacy lives on in the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Coach Gordon Larson was a big part of my childhood. Coach Larson not only taught me how to swim and compete to the best of my ability, but I learned many valuable life lessons swimming for such a great coach and human being. I was fortunate to also have been very good friends with his daughter Gretchen with whom I spent many hours laughing and enjoying time at their home. I went on the swim at MSU and then moved out of state, but I have never forgotten my wonderful childhood years swimming for the Cohoes and remembering my many wonderful friendships made while swimming on Coach Larson's team. I truly cherish those years and I am very sorry to hear of his passing. He will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to his family at this difficult time.

Coach Gordy not only taught me how to swim and compete but most importantly taught me life long lessons. His knowledge and motivation gave me the opportunity to swim at Tennessee and Eastern Michigan. Thank you Coach for building a special CSC full of life long teammates/friends!!
