Gordon MacCharles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fontana Mortuary - Fontana on Mar. 18, 2026.
Gordon William MacCharles

January 5, 1943 – February 18, 2026

Gordon William MacCharles entered eternal life on February 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, humor, and devotion to the people he loved.

Born on January 5, 1943, Gordon grew up with a spirit of independence and determination that would guide him throughout his life. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Long Beach State College, he went on to build a successful career as a business owner and salesman. Gordon had a natural ability to connect with people, and his wit, intelligence, and storytelling made him someone people enjoyed doing business with-and even more enjoyed calling a friend.

During the Vietnam War, Gordon was drafted into the United States Army. An expert marksman, he received both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for bravery, honors that reflected the courage and strength that lived quietly within him.

Gordon loved life's simple joys-family, animals, sports, and time spent on the water. In his younger years he played baseball, and he remained a lifelong sports fan who enjoyed watching NASCAR, baseball, and football. He also loved golfing, water skiing, boating, and vacationing with family and friends.

He especially enjoyed conversation and the camaraderie of friends. Sitting at the bar sharing stories and laughs with his longtime cronies was one of his favorite pastimes. Gordon was a man of few words, but when he spoke, he always had a story worth hearing. His quick wit and dry sense of humor made him unforgettable to those who knew him.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife Kathryn "Tug" MacCharles, his daughters Krista Taylor and Amanda MacCharles, his brothers Bruce MacCharles and Doug MacCharles, and his sister Valerie Pejack.

He was preceded in death by his mother Lillian MacCharles, his father Clifford MacCharles, his sister Judith Skalski, and his brother Brett MacCharles.

Though he has entered eternal life, the stories he told, the humor he shared, and the strength he carried will remain with those who loved him forever.

With my deepest sympathy to the Mac Charles family. Me and Joe owned the flower shop just two doors down from the Maintenance company where Gordy and Krista and Amanda worked.
