Gordon "Gordy" Lorain Morrow
April 21, 1953 – January 7, 2026
Gordon "Gordy" Lorain Morrow passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a family and community that were deeply shaped by his kindness, loyalty, and generosity.
Gordy was born in
Colville, Washington, where he spent many of his early years and formed the strong work ethic and quiet dependability that defined his life. He later made his home in Buckley, where "everyone seemed to know Gordy" - and nearly everyone had been helped by him at one time or another.
He worked for many years operating heavy equipment - the big land-moving machines he genuinely loved. Gordy had a special fondness for anything with a big engine and big tires: tractors, quads, motorcycles, and four-wheel-drive vehicles. He was never married and had no children of his own, but he was known far and wide as the very best uncle a family could have.
He delighted in taking nieces and nephews for rides - on quads, motorcycles, or piled into the Land Cruiser "back in the day." He had an open heart for all children and all dogs and was famous for always having treats ready for both.
Gordy never missed a birthday or a holiday. He loved gathering with family to watch Seahawks games and NASCAR races, and he made sure everyone was well-fed - chips and dip, nuts, pop, and plenty of snacks for all. Being together mattered deeply to him.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Lila Stumpff, and his sisters, Dottie Acheson and Kat Moore.
To his mother, Gordy was truly her lifeline. He was always there after a fall or illness, faithfully visiting her morning and night when she was hospitalized. After the passing of her husband, Don, Gordy took her on a special trip to Lake Curlew in Eastern Washington and back to Colville - a journey filled with care, memories, and love.
Each year, Gordy planted and maintained a large garden for his mother - rototilling, fencing out deer, watering, weeding, harvesting, and picking beans early in the morning before the heat of the day. He handled the mowing, weed-eating, and endless maintenance of the property, quietly taking care of what needed doing without ever seeking attention.
Simply put, not many could keep up with all that Gordy did - and even fewer would have done it so willingly and so joyfully.
A Memorial Gathering will be announced here once we have had time to secure the details please check back for info.
All family and friends are welcome to come share memories, visit, and celebrate Gordy's life.
Gordon "Gordy" Morrow will be remembered as a steady, gentle, hardworking man - a helper, a protector, a snack-bringer, a gardener, an uncle, and a son who showed his love through action every single day.
He will be deeply missed.
