Mr. Gordon Rawls Sr. was born March 23, 1949, to the late Roscoe Rawls Sr. and Leola Johnson Rawls of Pembroke, Georgia. Gordon had a love for fixing and racing cars. He attended the Bryan County Public Schools where he earned his high school diploma and graduated as an honor graduate with the Class of 1967. Gordon would go on to receive a certificate of training in Auto Body and Finder Repair from Swainsboro Area Vocational Technical School on October 3, 1969. Gordon's love for auto repair and fast cars would lead to him opening and operating his on business for 38 plus years. Gordon has run Rawls Auto Paint and Body works with passion, pride, and perseverance. Gordon always credited his success with putting God first and incorporating family into his business.
On August 23, 1969, Gordon would marry the love of his life, the late Mrs. Arlinda Denson Rawls. In this union three children were born. On Sunday, August 3, 2025, Gordon would transition to his final resting place surrounded by his family. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife Arlinda Denson Rawls, sister Pinkie Rawls Mikell, three brothers Willie Albert Rawls, Roscoe Rawls Jr., and Sylvester Rawls.
Gordon leaves to cherish his precious memories three children Gordon Rawls Jr. (Jennifer), Sharon Rawls Corbin (Kevin), and Crystal Lynn Rawls. He has 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. A God daughter Kimberly Watkins and God son Tony Johnson. He has three living sisters: Doretha Rawls Clifton (James), Exilee Rawls Pelt (Andre), and Emma Lee Rawls Robinson (Bobby). He has two living brothers: Oliver Rawls Sr. and Jerome Rawls (Brenda). He also has two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Berdie Ware (Harry) and Valerie Burns (Leroy), Carlton Denson and Burmon Denson (Lena). He has one aunt, Rachel Rawls Walden (Oscer) and one uncle, Emory Rawls (Judy) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends which he loved dearly.
