Gordon Sarber went to be with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on 7/17/2025 surrounded by those who love him. He was born on August 21,1941 in
Spokane, WA. He attended North Central High School and began a long career in construction. He met the love of his life Marilyn Moore at a gathering of friends, and immediately said, "That is the woman I am going to marry." They did marry after a short engagement in 1966. They had three sons, Scott, Brett, and Craig. Shortly after Scott was born, they moved to Hawaii for a few months to be with Marilyn's sister Anita and take advantage of a booming construction economy. Gordon gained experience in the construction field and was promoted to supervision and project management. When they returned to the Northwest, they moved their mobile home to Twin lakes, ID where Brett was born. Gordon's work took him to Fairbanks, Alaska, Shelby, Montana, and Wallace, ID. Before Craig was born, they purchased a home on East Wellesley in Spokane Valley, where they raised their boys and resided since 1972.
While working in Wallace, ID, Gordon had a dream where he was in a tavern having a beer, when he saw who he described as Jesus Christ come in, look at him, and walk out. In his dream, he reached out to grab Jesus's hand. Soon after that he decided to accept Christ as his savior and dedicated his life to following Him. They started attending a church near their home, Community Church of the Bible where he served as a deacon, and taught God's Word in Sunday School and as a back-up preacher. The change in his lifestyle after accepting Christ was dramatic and had an influence on others in his life. He was a witness for Christ everywhere he went, and people he worked with called him "The Christian". Gordon's primary goal in life was to know more about God. His mantra was, "How can you know about God if you don't read his words?" He always encouraged his family to read the Bible. The scripture that guided his life was Proverbs 30: 7-9: "Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies, give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me, lest I be full and deny thee, and say, " Who is the Lord?" Or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain".
Gordon's construction projects took him out of town quite a bit, and he was responsible for the construction of many large buildings throughout the Inland Northwest. In 1985 he and his brother Greg started Sarber Construction where he had the opportunity to teach his sons the construction trade and the meaning of hard work. When he wasn't working, he would be playing catch with his sons in the back yard, coaching their youth baseball teams, and taking the family snow skiing during the winter. After retiring from construction, he enjoyed upland bird hunting with his dogs "Lady" and "Pepper", camping, fishing, and visiting his grandchildren- especially at Blue Lake - a very special family gathering place.
Gordon is predeceased by his father Albert, his mother Eileen, his sister Susan, his nephew Todd Sarber, and his niece Laurel Woods. He is survived by his brothers Greg (Judy) and Rick (Diane) his wife Marilyn, three sons Scott (Debbie), Brett (Katie), Craig (Linette), 15 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
