COWPENS, S.C. — Gordon Pete Smith, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, December 5, 2021, at Regional Hopsice House after a long, courageous battle of cancer. He now has a completely healed body and in the presence of his Lord and Savior. He was 56 years old.
He was the son of the late Boyce B. and Omagine Lowery Smith of Chesnee, S.C. He was a graduate of Chesnee High School. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cowpens.
He is survived by a son, Jacob Dillon Smith of Chesnee and grandson, Dylan Neighbors also of Chesnee. He is survived by sisters; Rachel Brooks, Sandra Walker of Chesnee, Lois Reynolds (Roger) of Mayo, Vicky Kelley (Harvey), Judy Hall (Roddy), of Spartanburg, Sheila Abbott (Steve) of Cowpens, and Susan Spires (Ed) of Spartanburg.
He was preceded in death by sister, Lynne Smith Medlin.
Pete was an outdoorsman and enjoyed many years of riding his horses, Teco and Mouse.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 9, 2021, from 1:00-1:45 pm, in the Chapel of Harris-Nadeau Mortuary. Funeral service will start promptly at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Steven Griffith of Mountain View Baptist Church in Cowpens officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Cowpens. To protect those at risk in attendance, all attendees are lovingly requested to wear a face covering during the indoor service.
