Gordon Jack Wanner passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on November 10, 2025. At 88, he was united with his Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited with the love of his life, Linda.

He was the beloved father of Ted, Kristine (Cliff), and Jason (Julia), and proud grandfather of Paul, Amanda (Eli), Jonah, and Jaden. He was also a cherished brother, uncle, and friend. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Alice Wanner, his sister-in-law, Lela Wanner, and his bride of 67 years, Linda.

Born in March 1937, he was a mischievous and fun-loving boy who grew into a dedicated athlete throughout his school years. He ran cross country, played football, wrestled, and especially loved baseball-his favorite sport-where he played center field and was a switch hitter.

Gordon graduated from Molalla High School in 1955 and married Linda in 1957. Together, they began farming. In 1960, he was honored by the Molalla Jaycees as the Outstanding Young Farmer. He loved animals, particularly his cattle and Quarter Horses. Most recently they farmed wheat, grass seed, and hazelnuts.

Gordon was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Angel, where he served in many congregational roles. Deeply rooted in the Canby community, he also served for many years on the Canby Telephone Board. He was especially passionate about supporting local youth and was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors. His generosity, encouragement, and belief in the potential of others left a lasting impact on countless lives.

A funeral service will be held on November 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 15534 E Marquam Road NE, Mt. Angel, OR 97362. Interment and a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in his memory.
