Gorman Donald Wolfe, of Marion Township, died on September 26, 2024, at Covenant Healthcare, at the age of 91.
Gorman was born on February 25, 1933, one of ten children of Niles Wolfe and Emma (Thiel) Wolfe. He was raised by his grandmother, Amelia Wolfe, until age 12. He got his high school diploma in 2006, from Chesaning Union High School. He married his wife, Patricia Federspiel on January 26, 1957. They had 63 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2019. As a young man, he proudly joined the United States Army where he served as a cook in Korea. Following his time in the military, he worked as a Dairy Farmer for most of his life, until he retired and became known as "handyman".
Gorman was a very passionate active Korean War Veteran. He volunteered for many different honor guards, he was the current commander of the Frankenmuth-Saginaw Korean War Vet Chapter #251, and the past commander of the Disabled American Vets Chapter #4, and many other Korean War Veteran organizations. Gorman also enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, winemaking, playing euchre, woodworking, building toy boxes, watching the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers. All around, he was a loving father and great neighbor.
Gorman is survived by his children, Gary (Jackie) Wolfe, Dan (Lisa) Wolfe, Susan Wolfe, and his cat, Fritz; grandchildren, Jessy Wolfe, Lyndi (Kevin) Lohse, Gabriel (Luther) Senter, Melissa (Mark) Helt, Thomas (Ariane) Tufts; great-grandchildren, James Senter, Breanna and Brooklyn Helt; good friend and hunting buddy, Robert Harris; siblings, Dennis Wolfe, Judy McClelland, Ruthann Zatocil; god-daughters, Paula Stopjik and Lora Schultz; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia; great-grand-daughter, Madelyn Senter; siblings, Norman, Ronald, Louis, Dale, Jeanetter Haak, Judy Kay Carter; in-laws, Carl, Thomas, Robert, Lawrence, Beverly, Roberta and Laura; and long time farm-hand and friend, Terry Tribble.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 2:00pm - 7:00pm at McGeehan Funeral Home - Martin Chapel. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Marion Springs Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following the burial at the Marion Township Hall.
Memorial donations can be made to the I Support the 1% Veteran's Food Pantry in Frankenmuth, The Marion Springs Township Fire Department, or any Veterans organization.
