Marion Grace Rinehardt Bumgarner passed away at her home on Sunday, March 17, 2024. She was a retired teacher’s assistant at Cool Spring Elementary and had also worked with Crossroads Christian School after her retirement. She loved being surrounded by her family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible at the beach. Grace was a born caretaker and loved taking care of those she loved. She loved to read and grow as many plants as possible.
Born on August 21, 1942, she was the daughter of Marion Burl Rinehardt and Elizabeth Marie Bost Rinehardt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harper “Sonny” Bumgarner, a daughter, Judy Irene Bumgarner Travis, brothers, Jimmy Rinehardt, Luther Rinehardt, sister, Billie Ann McGee, son-in-law, Rick Lambert, and aunt, Lucille Bost Sharpe.
She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Shoe (Rob), and Debbie Lambert, both of Statesville, and son-in-law Greg Travis of Granite Falls. Grace had 5 grandchildren; Amanda Shook (Shawn), Stacy Smith (Jeff), Caleb Trevino, Jonathan Lambert (Megan), and Marcus Lambert, as well as 3 great-grandchildren; Christopher Smith Jr., Waylon Harper Lambert and Baby Boy Lambert who is due in a few weeks.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Abilene Church of Christ with Leon Cash officiating.
