Ruby Bronda (Johnson) Mayberry, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, at her home in Harmony, NC, at the age of 81. Born on April 3, 1944, in Wilkes County, NC, Ruby was the cherished daughter of the late Charles and Violet Johnson.
Ruby dedicated over 40 years of her life to Gulistan Carpet, where she worked with diligence and care in Human Resources until her well-deserved retirement. She was a woman of simple joys, finding happiness in reading, watching Christmas movies, and most of all, spending treasured moments with her family.
A devoted member of Grace Baptist Church in Windy Gap, Ruby's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ernest Lee Mayberry; her brothers, Larry Johnson and Kenneth Johnson; and her sister, Darnell Holloway.
She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her legacy: her son, Chad Mayberry and his wife Misty; her daughter, Amy Rowe and her husband Steve; her brother, Theon Johnson and his wife Kathy; her sister, Wanda Griffin and her husband Frank. Ruby was a proud grandmother to Jerica Mayberry, Kylee Mayberry, Isaac Mayberry, Kayla Mayberry Elkins, and Steven Rowe and his wife Caitlin. She also cherished her great-grandchildren, Grayson, Bryson, Natalie, and Jax.
A graveside service to celebrate Ruby’s life will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, February 19th, at Grace Baptist Church in Windy Gap. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Iredell Home Health and the compassionate staff of Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County for their dedicated support and care.
