Roddy ~ Mrs. Grace T. Giddens, age 90, went home to her Lord, Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at home in Roddy. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 22, 2024, at 2 P.M., in Roddy Baptist Church, with Rev. Ken Rodgers officiating. Burial will be in Yearty Family Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service Monday at the Church.
Mrs. Grace was born October 30, 1933, in Dodge County, the daughter of the late Mr. Columbus Johnnie Thompson and Mrs. Bertha Mae Pierce Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. George W. Giddens; and brothers, Nathan Thompson and Daniel Thompson. Grace was a graduate of Chester High School and was a member of the Class of 1950. She continued her education at Middle Georgia College graduating in 1952. After graduating college Ms. Grace married and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was known for her wonderful cooking ability, specifically, her coconut and strawberry cakes were legendary. In her free time she enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a Charter Member of Roddy Baptist Church and will be missed by all that knew her.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Linda (Mark) Di Bois of Roddy and William Andy Giddens of Tifton; grandchildren, Wendy (Mike) Fletcher of Lake Park and Laura (Andy) Baughcum of Cochran; great grandchildren, Nicole Baughcum of Cochran, Lana (Weston) Roberts, Leah Fletcher, and Michael Fletcher all of Lake Park; sister, Clara T. Broome of Roddy; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
