Grace A. (Wallace) Hietpas of Kimberly went to join the love of her life, in the Kingdom of God November 24, 2025. Grace was born in Little Chute on April 2, 1936, to Stella (Vanden Heuvel) and James Wallace. She resided in Combined Locks throughout her childhood. After school she worked briefly at St. Elizabeth Hospital and then Thilmany Mill in the bag mill. One evening she went out with her girlfriends and met her soul mate, the love of her life, Melvin Hietpas.
On May 30, 1959, Grace and Mel were married. They celebrated their 60th anniversary before Mel's passing in October 2019. Grace and Mel were a team and partners with every aspect of their daily lives, from raising 6 children, working together building and remodeling their homes and helping family and friends when needed.
Grace and Mel traveled to many remarkable locations all over the world. They also enjoyed golfing, RVing, camping, fishing, and going out with friends. Grace and Mel were happiest when they were together.
Grace was a kindhearted person who always put family first in her life. Her family was one of her biggest blessings that she truly treasured. Grace taught her six children the importance of family and the importance of having faith in God.
Grace was a member of Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Combined Locks.
Grace is survived by her children: Lori (Ben) Dietzen, Kaukauna WI; Becky (Bill) Thomas, Madison AL; Jeff (Cheryl) Hietpas, Unity WI; Dan (Diane) Hietpas, Shawano WI; Jim (Jan) Hietpas, Appleton WI; Mike (Anita) Hietpas, Kaukauna WI; grandchildren "her angels": Bob (Sarah) Dietzen, David Dietzen, Jon Dietzen, Amanda Dietzen, Beth (Daniel) Affeldt, Brett Thomas, Bohdan Thomas, Amy (Josh) Wallace, Tom Hietpas, Emily Hietpas, Ashlie (Zack) Wells, Anna Hietpas (special friend Zach), Josh Carlson (special friend Caroline), Matt Carlson (special friend Aly), Kinleigh (Mavrick) Gehrman, Lydia (Nathan) Smale, Bryce Hietpas (special friend Natasha), Colby Hietpas (special friend Ashley); 12 great grandchildren; brother, Earl Wallace; sisters: Rose Verhagen, Donna Eake, and Pat Van Grinsven; brother-in-law, Marvin (Imelda) Hietpas; and sisters-in-law: Ceil Hietpas and Nancy Hietpas. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Mel Hietpas; parents, Stella and James Wallace; brothers: Kenny (Mary) Wallace, Oscar Wallace, and Bill (Jeanne) Wallace; mother and father-in-law, Gertrude and John Hietpas; sisters-in-law: Joyce Smith and Carla Wallace; and brothers-in-law: Roger Hietpas, Nick Hietpas, Gene Verhagen, Dennis Eake, and Vic Van Grinsven.
Visitation for Grace will be held at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace Street, Combined Locks) on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and concluding at 11:45 a.m. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 Noon with the Rev. Robert Stegmann officiating. Committal St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.
This horrible disease called Alzheimer's took you slowly from us, but now you are united with Dad and pain free. Until we meet again…We Love You!
