Marjorie A. (Marge) Hietpas (Van Ess), age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025. She was born in Green Bay on May 22, 1937, the eldest daughter of the late Carl and Lena Van Ess. Marge graduated from St. Joseph Academy and then worked in the banking industry and later in the title insurance field. Marge's most important role in life was being a loving wife and mother to her six children.
Marjorie married Eugene T. Hietpas at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Green Bay on December 28, 1963. Gene and Marjorie were long-time members of Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church where they both spent countless hours supporting the Church. Marge was a religious education teacher, office support secretary, and helped with baptismal preparation. She was always ready to serve. Her faith was an enormous part of her beautiful life.
Marge was the most devoted mother, and commitment to her family was the hallmark of her life. She was loved by so many and was known for her faith in God, humility, and ability to connect with everyone she met. Her life was a lesson in love, hard work, and faith, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide all who knew her. She is survived by five children: Annette (Steve) Noles, Lynn (Steve) Smith, Nancie (Kevin) Brennan, Jay (Jodi) Hietpas and Chad (Kristin) Hietpas.
