Grace Evelyn Joiner

Grace Evelyn Joiner, known lovingly as Evelyn, was born on October 11, 1929, in Alabama, to William and Grace Eaves. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Billy Eaves.

Evelyn was married to the love of her life, Clyde Joiner, for 66 years. Together they built a faithful and loving home in Columbiana, Alabama, where they raised their children and delighted in the frequent presence of their grandchildren. Clyde preceded her in death in 2014.

She was the devoted mother of three children: Ray Joiner (Vicky), Vicki Pettijohn (Richard), and Stephen Joiner (Nancy), who preceded her in death in 1983.

Evelyn and Clyde were longtime members of First Baptist Church of Columbiana, where Evelyn served faithfully for many years as church secretary. She later worked as a bookkeeper for the Columbiana Water Board, from which she retired in 2000.

Above all else, Evelyn loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her faith was steady, joyful, and deeply rooted. She taught a ladies' Sunday School class for more than 40 years, investing Scripture, wisdom, and love into generations of women. Her life bore quiet but enduring fruit through faithful service and steadfast devotion.

Evelyn was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by seven grandchildren, another two are deceased, Courtney (2008) and Chris (2015); twenty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In her later years, Evelyn treasured the fellowship and spiritual encouragement found in the small groups she was part of at Tammany View Baptist Church in Lewiston, Idaho; Kennewick Baptist Church; and Richland Baptist Church. These communities brought her great joy and companionship as she continued to walk faithfully with the Lord.

Evelyn's life was marked by love for family, devotion to Christ, and a servant's heart. She leaves behind a legacy of faith that will continue to shape and bless her family for generations.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM (PST), Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Richland Baptist Church in Richland, Washington, with Pastor Richard Pettijohn officiating. Burial will take place at Pinelawn Gardens in Columbiana, Alabama, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM (CST).
