Grace Margaret (Johansson) Seccombe
10/25/1935 –12/16/2023
Grace, age 88, resident of Eagle River, WI, passed away at Legacy of the Northwoods, while in the care of their great staff; as well as with the experienced folks with Compassus Hospice Care.
She was born in Berwyn, IL to Alvar and Edith Johansson on October 25th, 1935. Grace was married to the late Thomas Seccombe; who passed away, unexpectedly, on July 31st, 2023.
Grace graduated from Morton East High School in Cicero, IL in 1953. She attended Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL in 1954. Grace raised her two daughters, Peggy, and Pamela, in Downers Grove, IL with her first husband, David Anderson. Grace worked in various schools and completed her working career at the Downers Grove Police Department.
Grace moved with Tom to their dream home in the Northwoods of Wisconsin near Eagle River.
Grace was the middle of three daughters; Florence (Johansson) Cork; and Carole(Johansson) Johnson. Both of her sisters preceded her in death.
Grace was a Christian who attended the First Baptist Church in Downers Grove for many years.
Grace was loved by those who met her and her pleasant smile and disposition! This was especially evident in her final months at Legacy of the Northwoods; where the staff adored Gracie!!
Over many years, Grace loved, and cared for, her many dogs.
Grace also loved her neighbors; Bob and Gail Curley and Mark and Dawn Laborr!
Grace is survived by Peggy (Dan) Carlson – West Chester, PA; Pamela (Kyle) Turner – Marion, IN. Grandchildren: Ryan (Olga) Carlson; Jacob Carlson; Cole (Emily Jane) Turner; Clayton (Hannah) Carlson; Emily (Nick) Duke; and Allison (Taylor) Farrell.
Grace had ten great-grandchildren. They include: Norah Jane Turner, Graham Colescott Kyle Turner, Harrison Benjamin Turner; Sophia Carlson, Luke Carlson; Nicholas Antonio (Nico) Duke, Elin Grace Duke; Mae Carlson; Turner James (TJ) Farrell; Zahara Eberle; and soon to be Baby Boy Farrell in April 2024!
Grace is also survived by her step-daughter, Jodi (Brett) Kohnen; step Grandsons Bradley and Benjamin; sister-in-law and dear friend Judy (Carl) Rezek, brother's in-law Dennis (Bonnie) Seccombe, John (and the late Carol) Seccombe; nieces and nephew.
Peggy, Dan, Pamela, and Kyle would also like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the many wonderful folks in Eagle River, Wisconsin. It goes beyond words how thankful we are to all of you!
Our special appreciation goes out to neighbors Gail and Bob; Mark and Dawn; Gayle, Mark, and Kristy at Legacy of the Northwoods in Eagle River; Jannett Marien at Compassus Hospice and their awesome Team.
A private memorial service for family will be held later in St. Petersburg, FL., a favorite vacation spot for Grace and her girls!
In lieu of flowers, donations in Grace's name can be made directly to Compassus Hospice.
