Grady Lee "Sonny" Arrott, 90, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, in
Menard, TX. Sonny was born on September 27, 1934, to Leila Perkins and Cal Monroe Arrott.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many during his remarkable 90 years.
Sonny graduated high school from San Angelo High and then attended school at Sul Ross. On January 2, 1956, Sonny married fifth-grade sweetheart, Donna Weiss, and together they built a loving and enduring partnership that spanned 67 years until Donna's passing in 2023. Their life together was filled with joy, love, and devotion, and they were blessed with two children, daughter Melanye, and son Kit Lee. Sonny's love for Donna was unwavering, and his faithfulness to her was exemplified by his passing on the 69th anniversary, joining her in eternity.
Sonny was known for his warm heart, strong character, famed stories, and magnetic personality. He was best known for his work as a car salesman all over San Angelo. If you ever had the privilege of buying a car from him, you were a friend for life. He also loved ranching part-time and enjoyed raising Angora Goats. He took great joy in being called by his beloved grandfather's name, "Pop," and it was a title he cherished dearly. Sonny's legacy of love, devotion, and family will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Donna; his son, Kit; and his sister-in-law, Frankie Nan Arrott.
He is survived by his brothers, Charles Monroe "Top" Arrott and wife Danny of San Angelo, and Milton Yates "Mit" Arrott of San Angelo; his daughter, Melanye Arrott Wilkinson and husband Bob of
Menard, TX; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Moritz Arrott of New Braunfels; and his cherished grandchildren: Amanda Wilkinson Richardson and husband Cody, Jarrott Wilkinson Crews and husband Travis, Cameron Lee Arrott, Dylan Shae Arrott, and Emma Grace Moritz.
Sonny was also proud of his great-grandchildren, Hayes Barrett and Maren Ellis Richardson and Creed Montgomery Crews. Additionally, he leaves behind a special family member, Jettye Miller of San Angelo, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will miss him dearly.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Menard Manor and Hospice of San Angelo for their compassionate care and support over the past few years. The family will honor his last wishes with no funeral or memorial service.
