David Hernandez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Funeral Home - Menard on Oct. 26, 2024.
David Zamora Hernandez, 60, of Red Oak, Texas, passed away on October 21, 2024. He was born on March 30, 1964, in Menard, Texas to Nicanor Sanchez Hernandez and Mary Zamora Osornio, where he spent much of his life. Most recently, David lived in Red Oak with his wife Julie.
David was full of life and joy, and moments after he walked into the room, laughter filled the space. David loved to tease his family and friends but also appreciated their great comebacks, which he showed with laughter. His grandma Adelfa would jokingly, but affectionately, call him "Little Lizard" because of how thin he was as kid. Lizard stuck as his lifelong nickname.
Growing up, David enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and swimming with his siblings and cousins. David was a gifted mechanic, so as he got older, his outdoor time was usually spent under the hood of a vehicle. He also was a great cook and could use the most basic ingredients to prepare amazing, flavorful meals.
David's life was not without challenges but through them, he grew an unwavering faith in God. He became well versed in the Bible and regularly quoted it. His favorite was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
David is survived by his wife, Julie Ann Newman, his sons, David Nathan Hernandez and Dustin Jerome Hernandez, his mother and stepfather, Mary and Pablo Osornio, and his siblings, Anna Maria Hernandez, Jamie Zamora Hernandez and his wife Tina, Angelina Osornio Torres and her husband JR, and Pearla Maria Osornio and her husband Ruben Garcia, in addition to several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his father, sister Nancy Lee Hernandez, and brother, Nicanor Zamora Hernandez.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 5:30-7:30 pm at Heritage Funeral Home of Menard.
