Grant D. Shade Jr., 86, of Ridge Road, Northumberland, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, at Vintage Knolls retirement community in Danville.
Grant was born Feb. 6, 1939, in Milton, a son of the late Grant D. Shade Sr. and Mabel (Wetzel) Shade. On Aug. 13, 1960, he married Sally I. (Clark) who preceded him in death, breaking a 56-year marital union.
He was a graduate of Milton High School.
Grant was a construction foreman for PP&L up until his retirement.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church Sunbury.
Grant was also a member of the Social Club, the No. 1 Fire Company in Northumberland and the Northumberland Hook and Ladder.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and his family.
Grant is survived by his daughters, Michelle Wiles and her husband Steve of Charleston, S.C., and Tracy Smith and her husband Jim of Northumberland; grandchildren Nicole (Lauren), Taylor, Michael and Sarah; his companion, Nancy Oberdorf; brothers, Herman and Terry Shade, and sister, Connie Waltman.
He was preceded in death by his brother Edward and sister Nancy.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, at 1 p.m. in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, 900 Packer Street, Sunbury.
Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King Street, Northumberland.
