Gray Creighton Obituary
Gray D. Creighton of Glen Mills, PA passed away at home on January 6, 2026 at the age of 100.
Born in Philadelphia to Marcella (Diemer) and Edward B. Creighton, he spent his early years in Upper Providence and Catawissa, PA. Gray honorably served his country in the Merchant Marines and then joined the Army of the United States during World War II.
He graduated from Bucknell University and worked as a Special Agent with Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford, CT and Treasurer for Dennis J. Sweeney and Company in Philadelphia. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 541 and the Upper Providence Fire Company.
Over 70 years ago, Gray and Barbara built a cottage on Lake Wallenpaupack where Gray enjoyed fishing and boating with his family and friends. The property remains in the family today.
In addition to his parents, Gray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara (Mertz) Creighton, who passed away in 2023, and his brother, Edward B. Creighton, Jr. He is survived by his children, Edward Creighton, Barbara (Thomas) Biedekapp, David Creighton, Marcella (John) Burns and Patricia (David) Campbell. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren who knew him as Grandpop: Jason (Rachel), Ashley (Justin), Adam (Jess), Andy (Steph), Corey (Amanda), Benjamin (Alison), Taylor (Aneesh), Audrey, Justin (Amelia), Kelly (Jake), and Mike and four great-grandchildren: King, Sir, Maren, and Grayson.
Services will be private.
Donations in Gray's memory may be made to the American Legion, 5 Legion Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
