Greg Brian Duncan was born August 21, 1948, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Orville and Audrey (Slagle) Duncan. He grew up in Algona and was baptized at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. He attended school in Algona and graduated from the Algona High School in 1966.
After his schooling Greg joined and served in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in August of 1969 and returned to the Algona area. He enrolled at NIACC in Mason City where he studied Mechanical Engineering before going on to Iowa State University. Greg worked for many years as a land surveyor in the Des Moines area before retiring and later moving back to Algona.
Greg was an historian and very into military history and enjoyed taking part in Civil War Reenactments. He was also very interested in space and flight and enjoyed many hours on his flight simulator at his home. He was a past member of the Algona Prudence Lodge #205.
Greg died Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa. He was 77.
He is survived by his close friends in Algona and his morning coffee group he faithfully attended. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Audrey.
