COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Greg Hensley passed away on Friday, December 20th in Nashville, TN. He was born in Big Springs, TX on September 27, 1966. He graduated from Cookeville High School in 1984 and Tennessee Tech University in 1990.
Greg was known to all as the boot man and Cowboy Elvis. He was employed by Dan Post Boots for exactly 30 years this current year with zero desire to retire. He absolutely loved his job and everyone over all the years that he met. Greg never once met a stranger and would always make sure you had a pair of boots. His work travels took him to California, Wyoming, Las Vegas, Texas, Cabo San Lucas, and other places. He made several friends in the boot industry, country music, and the classic car world even auto racing.
But his main hobby to unwind was his 1957 Chevy. He owned and enjoyed several classic cars over the years but this one was the exact one he had waited for his entire life.
Greg also was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour enjoying the adventures of the wild west.
Apart from being the National Sales Director for Dan Post Boots, traveling and enjoying his hobbies; he always was a servant with a huge heart who took care of others in any way he could.
He grew up at the Cookeville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with his family and friends. He was a believer in our good Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is at rest and peace in that eternal kingdom.
He was the son of Ron and Georgia Hensley and big brother to Gary Hensley. He was the uncle to Garrison Hensley, Liberty Hensley and Loveleya Hensley of Franklin, TN.
He is preceded in death by his father Ron Hensley of Cookeville. Also preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude and Grace Hensley of Cookeville and Lester and Willard Brown of Hilham.
We definitely cannot end this announcement without mentioning Greg's best friend of all time, Buster the wonder beagle.
We love you Greg and know you loved all of us. Now go run with Buster and sit awhile.
