Greg Lowery Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Townsend Brothers Funeral Home - Dublin on Oct. 28, 2025.
Joseph Gregory "Greg" Lowery, a man of profound faith and boundless love, returned to his heavenly home on October 27, 2025, in his birthplace of Dublin, Georgia. Born on November 22, 1960, to Joseph L. Lowery and the late Iris Virginia Moye Lowery, Greg's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, service, and family.
Greg's early life in Dublin laid a strong foundation for the remarkable man he would become. As the salutatorian of West Laurens Class of 1978, he demonstrated an early commitment to excellence, a trait that would follow him throughout his life. His academic achievements were just the beginning of a life full of leadership and service to others.
For 45 years, Greg shared an unwavering partnership with his beloved wife, Kay Tindol Lowery. Together, they raised a family that was the very heart of his existence: sons Will (Beth) Lowery and Josh (Caitlin) Lowery, and daughter Elissa (Dillan) Lowery Aycock. His role as a father was one he cherished, and the legacy of his love is evident in the lives of his children. The joy of Greg's life was further multiplied by the laughter of his grandchildren, Lucas Lowery, Jacob Lowery, Noah Aycock and Hudson Lowery, whom he adored.
In his professional life, Greg was the former owner and operator of Lowery Studio & Photography, where he captured countless memories for others while making many of his own. However, it was his calling as an active pastor at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for the past 29 years that truly defined him. Greg's unwavering devotion was also evident in his previous active involvement in his church before taking on the role of pastor.
His sister, Krista (David) Hogan, remembers Greg as a pillar of strength and compassion, qualities that he also shared with his late relatives Doris Moye, Lucian Moye, and Lester & Eudell Lowery. Greg's presence was a source of comfort and guidance, not only to his family but to the many nieces, nephews, and members of the community who looked up to him.
A resident of Dublin through and through, Greg's love for his hometown paralleled his love for Jekyll Island, where he found great joy in the serene beauty of the coast. His passion for antiques reflected his appreciation for the stories and history behind each piece. Greg's musical talents were showcased as a former member of the southern gospel group Harmony, and his love for southern gospel music remained a constant source of inspiration.
As the current longest-serving pastor within the Laurens Baptist Association, Greg was a spiritual beacon, actively involved in the fabric of the community he served. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence, and he lived to share the love of his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ with everyone he encountered.
Described by those who knew him best as faith-filled, courageous, and thoughtful, Greg's legacy is one of unwavering commitment to his beliefs and the people he loved. He was always willing to witness and share his Lord, embodying the very essence of what it means to be a servant of God.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 31, 2025 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Moore, Rev. Calvin Bobo and Rev. Jack Lee officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM, October 30, 2025 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Hogan, Alex Curry, Chad Sapp, David Anderson, Kenny Stewart, Danny Evans, Rob Powell and Clifton Smith.
Honorary escort will include Larry Brewer, David Hogan, Tony Gay, Bob Gay, Dan Rowe, Tommy Cauthen, Mike Moore, Roy Burch, Mark Davidson, Kendall Hadden and Dr. Anthony Davis
