LaRue Fountain, a cherished pillar of the
Rentz, GA community, a devoted family man, and a respected farmer, passed away peacefully in his home on February 1, 2026, at the age of 92. LaRue was born on November 20, 1933, in Rentz, to his loving parents, the late T.D. Fountain and Mae Cowart Fountain. He was the embodiment of dedication, faith, and love throughout his life.
Growing up under the southern sun, LaRue cultivated a life as rich and bountiful as the fields he tended. His hands, weathered from years of hard work, brought forth the abundance of soybeans, cotton, peanuts, and the sounds of livestock that were music to his ears. LaRue's work extended beyond his farm as he actively served on the Laurens County Board of Education for eight years and contributed his wisdom to the Little Ocmulgee EMC Board of Directors for an impressive thirty-nine years.
As a founding member of Green Acres Golf Club, LaRue was known for his love of golf, a passion that was only eclipsed by the love he had for his family. His faith, as steadfast as the Georgia pines, was evident to all who knew him, particularly in his long and devoted service as a Deacon at Rentz Baptist Church. LaRue also played a significant role in the creation of the New Farmers Peanut Co-op, once again showing his dedication to his community and craft.
