Greg Messenger Obituary

Published by Anderson-Marry Funeral Home - Adrian Chapel on Jan. 15, 2015.
Gregory "Hot Dog" Lee Messenger, age 37, of Temperance died while surrounded by family and friends at 9:23 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, MI due to injuries sustained in a fire one week prior. He was born on December 16, 1977 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Lawrence and Patricia (Rudd) Messenger. "Hot Dog" graduated from Bedford High School in 1996, where he was a very accomplished wrestler, serving as Captain his senior year and holding the school's record for most takedowns. He also played baseball and football during his high school years. Greg was a member of the Sheet Metal Worker's Local No 33, Toledo District and was employed currently with NBI Construction working in the Farmington Hills area. All who knew Greg, knew him as "The Life of the Party" and that his world revolved around his family, friends and especially his nieces and nephews. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, U of M, the Toledo Walleyes and his beloved Detroit Tigers. Surviving are his parents, Larry "Spanky" and Pat Messenger of Temperance, 2 brothers, Bill (Julie) Messenger and Mike (Ashley) Messenger, both of Erie, MI; his grandfather, Edward Rudd of Lambertville; 2 nieces, Amanda and Miranda; 3 nephews, Ricky, Everett and Dakota "Bear"; several aunts, uncles, cousins and an "unmentionable" amount of friends and his extended family of "Brotherhood" co-workers. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Shirley Rudd and Pat and Les Messenger, 3 uncles, Les, Gordon and Chuck Messenger and his aunt Mary Neeley. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Greg "Hot Dog" Messenger will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Urbanski Bedford Funeral Chapel, Temperance. Burial will follow in Whiteford Union Cemetery, Lambertville. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2015 and on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Urbanski Bedford Funeral Chapel, Temperance.
