Gregory Munday Smith, 71, of Greenwood, husband of Deborah Dawley Smith, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Born on January 24, 1954, in Greenwood, he was a son of the late George Walter Smith and Gladys Mundy Smith. Greg was a graduate of Limestone College and was a retired manager with Georgia Pacific. He cherished his time spent with his family as well as the joy he found in being a grandparent. Greg was an avid traveler who particularly enjoyed fishing trips to Michigan, Wisconsin, and Canada. He was also a passionate golfer and a devoted fan of the Carolina Gamecocks. Known as the chef of the family, he took delight in preparing meals that brought everyone together. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Greg was deeply committed to his faith and community. His generous spirit and love for those around him will be remembered by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony Smith and Jimmy Smith. Greg is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Smith; son, Gregory Smith (Taylor); grandson, Jameson Smith; and good friends, Alan Raynor (Donna), Howard Corley and Chris Clem. A funeral mass will be held at 1PM on September 4, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Father Francisco Oñate-Vargas officiating. Inurnment will follow at the church. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice House, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646 or to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 915 Mathis Road, Greenwood, SC 29649.
