In Loving Memory of Greg Spivey
(June 6, 1969 - February 1, 2026)
A Life Lived Wide Open
Greg Spivey passed away on February 1st, 2026, leaving behind a legacy as rugged and enduring as the great outdoors he loved so much. A man of immense strength, sharp wit, and a work ethic that never quit, Greg lived a life that couldn't be contained by four walls.
A Master of the Outdoors and Mischief
Greg was most at home where the cell service was weak and the campfire was bright. Whether he was fishing, camping, or hunting, he found his peace in the wild. But Greg wasn’t just a quiet observer of nature; he was an adventurer who lived for the thrill of the chase and the occasional bit of mischief. He had a way of getting into trouble that made for the best stories—and his bravery ensured he always came out the other side with a smirk and his honesty intact.
Complicated, Caring, and Constant
Greg was a man of high impact. He didn't do anything halfway, and that included his relationships. He was a loving husband, a caring father, and a friend whose loyalty knew no bounds. He had a rare quality of treating his closest friends like blood relatives, expanding the definition of "family" to include anyone he deemed worthy of his trust.
He was a straight-shooter who told it like it was. Because he was so authentically himself, he left a mark on everyone he met. While his blunt honesty or strong-willed nature didn't always sit right with everyone, you always knew exactly where you stood with Greg—a rare and honorable trait.
An Enduring Footprint
Greg’s life was a storied one, filled with hard work, loud laughter, and a deep, fierce love for his family. He leaves behind a "ripple effect of wisdom" (and probably a few tall tales) that will be shared for generations. He taught us that strength isn't just about muscle—it's about showing up, working hard, and being brave enough to live life on your own terms.
His Greatest Legacy: Family
Greg’s greatest adventure was the family he leaves behind. He is survived by his devoted wife of 17 years, Cindy, who walked by his side through every chapter of their life together. His legacy continues through his brother, Kevin, and his children: Jonathon, Samantha, Hilary, Chylsea, Sam, and Celeste, as well as his beloved "fur babies," Bentley and Jaxon.
Greg was a proud Papa to eleven grandchildren—Olivia, Avery, Charlie, Sammy, Iris, Lilah, Carsyn, Kaden, Eduardo, Logan, and Nathaniel—who will undoubtedly inherit his spirit for mischief and his love for the outdoors.
Beyond his immediate kin, Greg leaves behind a large and beloved circle of extended family and friends, including nieces, nephews, in-laws, and the party of 10 (you know who you are). Though too numerous to name, each held a significant place in his heart; Greg had a way of making sure the people who mattered most to him knew they were part of his tribe.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jack, his mother, Shirley, and his brother, Gary. We imagine them now, finally reunited and finding a prime fishing spot together on the other side.
A Note of Gratitude
The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. Patel and the dedicated medical staff of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center. Their compassionate care and support provided Greg and his family with strength and comfort throughout his journey.
"May the fish be biting, the woods be thick, and the campfire never go out."
