Gregory Brian Arnett, Sr., 60, of Columbus, OH, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends.
Gregory Brian Arnett, Sr., known as Greg, was a man of faith, gentle humor, and quiet strength. Known for his funny, silly sense of humor and calm, steady presence, Greg brought warmth to every room he entered and comfort to all who knew him.
An avid outdoorsman, Greg found joy and peace in nature. He loved fishing, hunting, and watching birds, always taking time to notice the beauty around him. One of his greatest joys was fishing with his son, Gregory, especially at the family pond in their backyard-a time filled with conversation, laughter, and life lessons, where Greg served not only as a father but also a trusted confidant. For his daughter Amanda, moments with her father were equally cherished, whether talking on the phone for hours or quietly watching the birds together on the front porch. He nurtured each of his children with love, guidance, and a steady presence that will remain in their hearts forever.
Greg was also a devoted and playful grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren riding the four-wheeler, fishing, playing board games, or inventing silly games where he would use funny voices, making the kids laugh until their sides hurt. Those moments of joy and laughter left lasting memories for each of his grandchildren, who will always remember their grandfather's fun-loving spirit and warmth.
Greg also had a passion for cooking, especially grilling, where he turned meals into memorable gatherings filled with laughter and conversation. Many who knew him remember his warmth at the grill or in the kitchen and the joy he brought to family and friends.
Greg's greatest companion in life was his beloved wife, Joanna, who was not only his partner but also his best friend. Their love was a quiet, enduring bond, filled with shared laughter, adventures, and countless simple joys that left a lasting impression on all who witnessed it. Greg preceded Joanna in death, but their love and memories together remain an enduring legacy.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Amanda (Brent) and Gregory (Hanna), and by his grandchildren: Lillian, Addelynn, Emmilynn, Titus, Jonah, Eden, and Silas. He is also survived by his mother, Jane Arlene Carpenter; his siblings Debbie (Lloyd) Moore, Sherry (Curt) Hankinson, Patty (Phil) Cromer, Dan (Amy) Arnett, and Jeff (Cyndi) Arnett; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Greg's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He found comfort in the words of John 14:1–3 (The Message): "Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is plenty of room for you in my Father's home. If that were not so, would I have told you that I'm on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I go and get the room ready, I will come back and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am."
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Redeemers on Courtright, 1850 Courtright Rd, Columbus, OH 43227.
