Gregory W. Bell, 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Bear Mountain Nursing Home in Andover after a battle with ALS on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. He leaves his wife, Roberta "Robbin" (Sungy) Bell with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. He was the son of the late Wallace H. and Alma Jeanne (Gregory) Bell of Andover. Greg worked 30 years as a production mechanic at Osram Sylvania in Danvers, where he met his wife. He was a member of their Quarter Century Club. He later worked for Ken's Foods in Marlborough eventually retiring from there at which time he was diagnosed with ALS 2 years after retirement. Greg enjoyed drag racing, playing his drums, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his older son, Richard of Salem, NH; infant sons, Timothy and Allen; his sister, Valerie Glover; nephew, Gregory Glover; and grandparents, Charles and Bessie (Smith) Gregory and David and Edith Bell, all of Andover. Besides his wife, Greg is survived by his children, daughters, Patricia and her husband, Daniel Nihan of New Hampshire, Sherry Bell and her partner, David Reo of Rhode Island, Melissa and her husband, Charles Morrissey of New Hampshire; and his sons, Gregory M and his wife, Liz of Kentucky, and Christopher of Methuen. He is also survived by his brother, Manny and his his wife, Tracy Bell of Peabody; his beloved grandchildren, Connor, Zachary, David, Brooke, Valerie, Jillian, Gemma, Sean, Trevor, Liam, Charlie, MyKayla, and Zabreya; former wife, Kathy Hoffman. He also leaves behind his uncle, David and his wife, Rita Bell of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the staff at Bear Mountain and Compassus Hospice Care for taking good care of him and keeping him comfortable during his illness. Greg will be greatly missed by all who loved him. His endless stories and his dry sense of humor are what everyone will remember most. Greg we love you and will miss you dearly. Family and friends are invited to his calling hours on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 124 Abbot Street in Andover. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bell family.
