Gregory Bodner Obituary

Gregory Bodner
June 16, 1940 - December 18, 2025
Gregory P. Bodner Sr., of Branford, CT, passed away peacefully, at home, on Dec. 18, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Bonnie Dykun Bodner for 53 years, and the father of Greg Jr. of Stony Creek, CT, and Elizabeth (husband, Carl Smith Jr.) of Madison, CT. He was the grandfather of Carl Smith III.
Born on Father's Day, June 16, 1940, as one of an unexpected pair of twin boys, Greg arrived five minutes before his brother, Gereon (Gery Bodner) to parents, Joseph A. Bodner and Katherine Meglin Bodner.
Raised in the Branford Point section of town, the twins had a busy childhood with school, church, boy scouts, and play with the numerous neighborhood kids, many of whom remained lifelong friends.
A graduate of Branford schools, Greg went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam Era.
A graduate of the Connecticut School of Electronics and later earning his state electrician's license, Greg worked as an electronic security technician for most of his career. He later worked at Quinnipiac University, in the facilities department, retiring at the age of 82.
Greg served on Branford's Representative Town Meeting during the 1960s, and was also a member of the American Legion and the Branford Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #1939.
Greg was a vintage car enthusiast, having owned and restored various makes and models over the years, including a Model A Ford and Lincoln Continentals.
In addition to his wife, children, and grandchild, Greg leaves behind his brother, Gery (wife, Gayle), sisters-in-law, Joanne Fryer (late William) and Linda Muir (late Richard), and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and their families. Greg was predeceased by his parents, older brothers, Joseph A. Bodner, Jr (late Jean) and Clement Bodner (late Midori), and infant brother, Michael Bodner.
Hardworking, friendly, and quick-witted, Greg will be remembered by many.
Services will be held at a later date. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford is in care of arrangements. Please see his online memorial at www.wsclancy.com .
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Greg's name to the Disabled American Veterans ( DAV.org ), P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.

Had the pleasure of working with Greg ( Louie)) we gave him that name because he reminded us of Louie Depalma from the show Taxi. We shared a lot of laughs over the years. My thoughts and prayers to his family R.I.P.Louie.
