Gregory Brian Major, 52, of Houston, Texas, passed away unexpectedly from complications due to congestive heart failure, on Monday, October 14, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, whose warmth and humor touched the lives of everyone he met.
Born on September 6, 1972, Greg was always up to something, whether with friends, family, or by himself. He often told stories of amazing childhood memories including learning to quilt, going out to the oil wells with his Grandfather, gardening, traveling, grape zots, and his pet chicken.
Greg's thirst for knowledge showed up best in his reading and hobbies.
"What I cannot create, I do not understand." ~ Richard Feynman
He loved working on cars, listening to and playing music, hunting and fishing, fountain pens, woodworking, craft beer, making wings (ask Joel and Cooksey), cycling, playing games, gardening, playing pool, cooking (and eating), drawing, antiques, and so much more. Greg's kindness and generosity were evident in all he did; he had an extraordinary ability to make those around him feel valued and loved.
A former co-worker and friend put it perfectly, "He is a good man with a kind heart and a great vision. I will miss him so much. He's one of the greatest influences in my life and I'm a better person because of him."
A celebration of Greg's life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Eureka Heights Brewery, 941 W. 18th St., Houston, Texas, 77008 at 11:30 am, with fellowship and friendship to follow. Greg would not want to see any stuffy or dark dress for this, so put on your jeans and a fun shirt. Friends and family are invited to share their memories and honor an amazing man who will be deeply missed.
If you are inclined to honor Greg through a donation, two of his favorites were Houston Pets Alive (https://www.houstonpetsalive.org/) and Girls Who Code (https://girlswhocode.com/). We appreciate all of your love and support.

Greg is survived by his best friend and wife, Jennifer (Wilson) Major; daughters, Rena (Major) Oztum and Maci Bricker, of Houston; second mom, Sheila Stark of Stillwater; sister, Shelly Clemons of Guthrie; aunt, Diane (McLaughlin) and Uncle Jack Pate and their girls, Stephanie, Sondra, and Jackie of Edmond; uncle, Dale Major and his wife Cheryl and their children Michael and Sondra, of Mulhall-Orlando; Rena's mom, Tammy (Gammon) Major, of Stillwater; his Houston parents, Anna (Torres) and Milton Wilson; and half-sisters, Sheenah and Amanda Claus. He is also survived by a loving extended family, countless close friends who were considered family, and all of the fur babies.
Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Cynthia (McLaughlin) Claus; his beloved father, Terry Major, and all of his grandparents.
