David Harold Pebernat died August 14, 2025 in Shenandoah, Texas at the age of 77. He was born November 12, 1947 to Joy Belle (Berry) and Harold Loyd Pebernat in Flint, Michigan. His parents moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he attended elementary and junior high school. His family moved to Alexandria, Louisiana, and he graduated from Bolton High School in 1966. While living in Louisiana, he developed a lasting love of cajun cooking and seafood.

David voluntarily joined the United States Navy in July, 1967 and served aboard the USS Sanctuary, a hospital ship during the Vietnam War. In November, 1968 he was honorably discharged, earning a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. He received electricity and electronics training from the Navy.

David graduated from the Oklahoma School of Business, Accountancy, Law and Finance in 1979 and worked several years as an accountant. He worked at Boviard Supply in Tulsa where he met his second wife, Lynette. They were married in December, 1983. In the early 1990's he decided to pursue a career in nursing and was an LVN for several years. In 1992, he and his family moved to The Woodlands, Texas.

David never met a stranger and was never shy about sharing his strong, and sometimes lengthy opinion on any topic. He thought Sean Connery was the best Bond, Coney I-Lander in Tulsa served the absolute best coneys, medium rare was the only way to eat steak, and the spicier the food the better. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, listening to 1960's music, eating at Shipley's Donuts, watching old horror movies (except zombies) and eating a huge bowl of popcorn almost every Saturday night. He adored the five rescued dalmatian and dalmatian mix dogs he owned over the years. He got excited every single time a dalmatian was shown on television, and he was convinced that the dog show was rigged if a dalmatian wasn't named Best in Show. Unlike a lot of men, David could find any "lost" item in the house. He joked that he must have been a bloodhound in a prior life.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lynette Pebernat of The Woodlands, Texas and his daughter, Michelle Pebernat of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

David made some big mistakes in his life, but he was proud of the fact he never voted for Donald Trump.

Per David's wishes, no memorial services have been planned. Donations in memory of David may be made to the Montgomery County Texas Food Bank, one of his favorite charities.
